Every year they host one of the main opening events in the running calendar – The Lliswerry 8, a flat 8 mile race. This run has taken place in Newport, South Wales since 1996.
After a long day in the office and devising document management solutions for clients, Nick has always loved to go for a little run – not 8 miles though. Having lived in Newport over 40 years, Nick has always had a keen interest in the Lliswerry runners and was proud, the his company, Eltham Lewis Associates – www.SCAN4U.CO.UK, were in a position to sponsor the Lliswerry 8 run. The race was a fantastic run and attracted a higher than expected entry of 580.
Nick commented, “Every finisher received a superb Tech T Shirt, despite it only costing £10 to enter – superb value indeed “
In addition to receiving a “Lliswerry8†special edition mug and a superb 3D glass trophy for the category winners, Dewi Griffiths and Kelly Morgan won personalised Hoodys as outright winners of the Male and Female races respectively – you can see Kelly crossing the line below. A novel idea that was warmly received, following the bitter chills that come across Newport on 23rd January this year.
Based on subsequent feedback the Lliswerry8 has already furthered its status as a well organised, friendly race that is great fun for all levels of runner.
Indeed we were all pleased to see the participation of Jack Buckner – the European 5000m Gold Medal Winner in 1986 amongst many others. As you can see from the picture below, like all runners Jack was so pleased to see the SCAN4U finishing line.
